March is the season in which madness occurs. 65 teams trying to win one ultimate game.
This year was no less mad than usual.
Everybody always busts out during bracket season with their "which mascot would win bracket" or "whose colors are prettier bracket" and this year many of them weren't much further off than those of us who actually studied.
I heard ESPN personality Mike Tirico say that out of 3.6 million brackets created on ESPN.com, oly two people got their sweet 16 correct! I think last year in my pool of 16 people at least two people got their sweet 16 correct.
The reason nobody was able to do so this year is obviously because of the amount of upsets. those who were able to pick ome of the upsets were probably prone to picking even more upsets and did just as bad as everybody else, sure they picked Villanova and Western Kentucky to win but they probably were upset when Cornell didn't beat Stanford in the first round.
This eact thing happened in my pool this year. One person correctly pick San Diego over UConn, Siena over Vanderbilt, and Davidson over Georgetown. Surprising? He is in last place out of the nine who joined.
Bracketologists couldn't even figure it out and that is their entire career. I am pretty sure Vegas is doing fairly well right now.
I have a new strategy for picking brackets next year. Everybody is always looking for the next George Mason. Well I will be looking for the next UConn, who lost to GM, or the next Georgetown of this year. But I will probably do just as bad as I did this year.
